The MFFL DRAFT is scheduled for Saturday August 29th
Coming at you a week later than expected. Must’ve been my wantingness for the season to end to avoid the harsh reality that my team is not that good. Sort of like the Chicago Bears but hey, here we are, still hoping to pull off some questionable wins.
Disappointment for some, resurrection for others, and a little bit of the complacent approach for the rest of the managers. What will the second half of the season bring? Will the sacko race become one for the ages? Will the top spot have a new manager take ownership? Or has the champion and Sacko been decided since week 1?
Following 4 weeks of action, we saw the unthinkable. Manager Dan had to have sold his soul to not only get his first win but beat Manager Chris, who has been at the top since the beginning of the season. We also saw our second 5 game skid of the season coming from Manager Sarros. Some light did shine on him as he was able to break that with a win entering Q3. But the one thing that has really stood out is Manager *Dietrich’s team. 1-3 over the last 4 games, however, his team has averaged more over the season than all but 2 managers. By far the most unfortunate season considering how good his team is. I suppose the one thing he can look forward to is points. Not only is he further than it appears from sacko but if the season somehow ends before its natural conclusion, he has a very good shot at winning the title even with a shitty record. (Who the hell made that the deciding factor?) Talk about having a * next to your title…..oh wait.
No manager had an undefeated quarter like the previous but 5 of them came close with a 3-1 record. Managers: Gavin, Kevin, Reece, Tony & Jon all know what it feels like being hot at the middle point of the season. Gavin, Reece & Jon are all projected to be in the playoff picture when it is all said and done whereas Kevin is just on the outside looking in. And Tony, well this seems to have been your peak for the season since your projection suggests you won't see the winners circle for the rest of the year finishing 0-6. Tough break.
There were some middle of the pack managers finishing the quarter at 2-2 record. Managers Chris, Jake, Orzo & Trevor broke even. At the lowest point of his season, Chris still has a dominant team and will make it into the playoffs with very little effort. He’ll just need to be nothing like Atlanta spots and not choke in pressure situations. As far as the other 3, only Orzo is set to make the playoffs but Jake can be happy to finish above .500.
Lastly, the bottom feeders of the league. Managers that went 1-3. Dietrich, Knott, Zach, Sarros, & Dan. Rightfully so since 4 of the 5 are projected to not even sniff the playoffs. Manager Zach was comfortable after Q1 sitting at 2nd but found out very quickly you can’t be too comfortable. No real surprise but Dan is still sitting at the bottom but can claw his way back to at least tie with record. Points are going to be his issue though. Only being down 8 points to Tony, Dan would have to win 3 just to make him sweat.
With 6 games left, things can get very interesting so from the current standings and from the top, down, here are the projections for the remainder of the year.
