In the words of the great Carl "Cj" Johnson, AH SHIT HERE WE GO AGAIN. The NFL season is upon us, and while some things look a little different on and around the field... there was still some fantastic football to watch. A slate of games that certainly did not disappoint — Cam Newton looked Great, Tom Brady looked Meh and there were upsets all over the place. Looking around the MFFL you'll notice some spirits are high, while others are looking at the unfortunate injuries plaguing their team and pivoting to more optimal starting lineups. Here's your shitty breakdown of Week 1:
Delnor's WiFi must be powerful as it allows Daddy Matt Orzolek to score yet another opening week victory over Matt Dietrich, developing a rivalry (albeit one-sided) for years to come. Those New Dad Performance metrics are proven in the MFFL and tough to compete with. Having Christian McCaffrey also seems to help.
Beaumont Pagel brings home the bacon with a Week 1 win over Jake Warren - lead by a strong performing wide receiver core and a Monday Night Football group including Danny Dimes leading the path to success. Paired with a bench that has depth, this is a team to watch in the coming weeks.
Ryan Sarros proves once again that first round picks are overrated by celebrating a Week 1 win over Trevor Cushard. Trevor put up strong numbers early with Cam Newton and then again late with a two touchdown performance from Zeke on Sunday Night Football. But it was an all-around team performance that lead to celebratory White Claws flowing for Ryan. One of his remaining fingers should be pointing up - cause that's where his team is going.
Even with an injury to his keeper and starting RB James Conner, Chris Barker dominates his week 1 matchup over Jon Jakusz. Finding Davante Adams late in the first round has, and will continue to be a bright spot on this asswipe's fantasy team. He finds a challenging opponent in Ryan for Week 2, but look for his team to overcome the running back deficiencies and put up yet another high scoring affair.
Two Monday Night wide outs compete to settle this one, and the victor was Sterling Shepard. Allowing Tony Vester the win as he slides past Gavin Fahey. Who says Defenses and Kickers are overrated, as they proved to be very valuable in grabbing the victory this week. Dalvin Cook also brought in 2 rushing touchdowns and will likely continue those strong numbers as he faces favorable a matchup in Indy next week.
Zach Gratton gives a loud Ric Flair WOOOO as he squeaks out a win over Matt Knott. That's even with Courtland Sutton giving him a goose egg in the lineup at WR. This was easily the matchup of the week, and a crushing blow to Knott - as he prays to the stat correction gods to see if the outcome changes. The projections also look close in next week's matchup as 14 looks to continue his good luck streak against Tony.
Kevin Holland is the sneaky good team to watch for in the MFFL as he opens up a an of whoop ass on Champ Dan to round out the victories in the league. You'd have to imagine his 2nd and 3rd round picks in Mixon and OBJ will turn things around - making his squad a point producing machine. Another manager that has the arrow pointing up, having opponents hope that their teams can keep up with these numbers.
Every week we'll highlight a league manager who pulls out his beefer and swings it around establishing dominance in the MFFL. This week's Certified Beefer goes to Christopher Barker. To no one's surprise, the manager with the high draft capital finds his way at the top of the standings with a commanding win over Jon Jakusz. Tougher competition is on the horizon where he goes against the Great Goatse in week 2, we'll see how long the beef stays swinging. But as of now - the weasel is king.
Malcom Brown is the flashy RB pickup- seeing 18 carries in week 1 against Dallas including goal-line work that ended up with 2 touchdowns. Look for his name to command the highest price in this week's upcoming waivers.
Dallas Goedert snagged a touchdown and over 100 yards receiving against the Washington Football Team, and will look to be a viable fantasy TE in week 2. Alongside Oj Howard, you'd suspect to see his name command value on waivers.
Russell Gage saw the same catches as Julio Jones. That number is pretty wild and worth a flier in the Moosenknuckle League. MVS also sits on waivers and could be an worthwhile pickup for teams with injury issues at wide receiver.
I've been told there are other articles to look forward to. Sacko Power Rankings (That can't be good) and Champ Dan's Pick Of The Week, highlighting his favorite Faab grab for the Week 2 matchups. Hope you enjoyed the breakdown for the week. Now go back to pretending to work from home!
Happiness, Disappointment, ah yes.. It's all coming back to us now.
