FAAB Recommendation
This video does a great job of highlighting my poor performance in the league thus far. But I feel that most of the league can relate, as we all took some punishment in Week 2. We had an enormous amount of star players and first round picks go down – leveling the playing field for others to maybe step up and compete (fingers crossed!). The league is starting to show some contenders, and a few pretenders. Week 3 should bring further clarity as to what direction these teams are going. Also… Count your FAAB dollars – we’re anticipating a Waiver Wire Frenzy tomorrow morning as there are many holes to fill (giggity), and managers will need to spend cash to bring their A-Game again this Sunday. What a damn mess. I tore my ACL writing this article.
Jon Jakusz showed off who the dominate fantasy football player is in the family by putting a spanking on Matt Dietrich’s team. His Sunday started with 49ers running back Raheem Mostert taking a pitch from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and bursting up the sideline for an 80-yard touchdown – and he never looked back. It’s a nice bounce back win for Jon who stumbled Week 1 and looks to continue the streak against the 0-2 Hold my Beers, managed by Gavin Fahey. Injuries to Mostert is concerning, with not much behind him on the bench. So look for Jon to hit waivers while also putting in a quick prayer to the fantasy gods to get Michael Thomas back on the field for Week 3.
The number 1 and 2 pick go down the same day? This is why we can’t have nice things. But it does allow Trevor Cushard to just SEND IT and grab a win in week 2. Obviously with the loss of Barkley, Commissioner Beaumont is going to come up short of expectations. And while it isn’t a commanding win for Trevor – ugly wins count too and that’s all that matters when you look at the standings. Trevor unexpectedly has the best Quarterback tandem in the MFFL, and trading one of those pieces could bring great depth to his team and punch a ticket to the playoffs. This is the best chance Trevor has ever had to make something happen in the Moosenkuckle League – he likely won’t make anything of it, but just know that the pieces are there to do so.
Another matchup coming down to Monday Night Football – and there’s nothing better than seeing two nice tight ends catching some balls, am I right??? Heyoo. Back to the recap, this one favored Darren Waller and team manager Jake Warren. He’s overcomes the zero on the scoreboard from Fuller by getting both running backs producing above their projections. When you step back and view his starting lineup, he's got some quality players that produce at wideout and running back. When you pair that with 16 targets going to your tight end, this could certainly be enough to keep the ball rolling next week against Trevor. How long will the good vibes last? Will he keep Brady slotted in at QB all season? How long will Jacoby Brissett sit on his bench? All great questions that we'll have to wait and find out.
I have breaking news to share, Alvin Kamara is a good football player. And when you take out Michael Thomas out of the equation, even more targets go to Super Kamario. Chris Barker skips to victory again going against The Great Goatse Ryan Sarros. Tight End is the only weak link (both on and off the field, amiright???) where Ryan was able to make up some of the points. Other than that, Chris has a team that seems to be built to keep this momentum and deliver at or above projected points week to week. Who gave this asswipe all these picks anyway.. the arrow still pointing up here.
IT’S HAMMERTIME. Daddy Matt Orzolek and The Hebrew Hammer and his matchup against Gavin Fahey was nothing short of spectacular. Save some points for the rest of us fellas. Having every starter go above projections certainly gets the blood flowing (more on that later). But with the good comes some bad news. As the number 1 overall pick McCaffrey goes down and looks to be sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Here’s another team projected to dump dollars into free agency or look to swindle a deal with another team to fill a roll at RB for his upcoming matchups. That is if he wants to keep hammering, his upcoming matchup in Mr. 14 Zach Gratton won't be an easy one.
Speaking of Mr. 14, Zach Gratton's team lead by Mr. UNLIIIIIMMMITEED Russell Wilson got it done defeating Kanye's presidential run, as well as Tony Vester by a score of 30 points. All but one of Tony's starters failed to meet their scoring projections. Allowing Zach's Tight End Jonnu Smith to also help solidify the win. Putting up more points than 4 of Tony's position's combined. Tony's team still remains in good shape, however Zach has some holes to fill with two players in Paris Campbell and Courtland Sutton hitting IR. Both Zach and Tony have exciting matchups in Week 3, and the shit talking has already gotten started.
Matt Knott's team raises up and shouts ALL EYEZ ON ME as he comes up victorious in Week 2 banger over Kevin Holland. Over 60% of Knott's total points come from just two players - Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Running Back Aaron Jones. These two teams sit side-by-side in the standings, and both came out of week 2 relatively healthy in comparison to the rest of the league. If we see Knott's team make a few roster moves, there could be another surprise playoff birth looming for his squad.
Lookout for the absolute unit that Matt Orzolek was swinging this week, as he dropped 179.5 points on the whole league. Serious bloodflow going down south from this performance. However only temporary.. as later in the afternoon it likely deflated back to normal size with the loss of McCaffrey. We still acknowledge this temporary beefer as it was still an impressive victory. But we don't anticipate any more 170+ point wins on the horizon for his squad anytime soon. Hope it was fun my friend!
Not many survived the week, as this will go down as one of the most injury riddled weeks in fantasy football history. So dollars will be thrown in all different directions. There’s just too many to list here and we look forward to Dan's article recapping how poorly we spent our FAAB dollars. But to speak to some of the major positions:
We saw Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey and Raheem Mostert get injured – one can guarantee that managers will be screaming “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY” to the likes of Jerick McKinnon, Dion Lewis and Mike Davis.
Backup Quarterbacks typically are rostered and waiting to be plugged in for MFFL teams. But the surprise start Justin Herbert had against KC may wake up a few league managers that have quarterbacks such as Jacoby Brissett and Kirk Cousins sitting around on their bench. I'd say that's worth a couple bucks to secure the rookie to your squad.
Tight End last week produced major points. And for those looking to keep up with it all - It's good to consider either Dalton Schultz, Jordan Reed, or Mo Alie-Cox. Maybe not season long starters in this list, but good fantasy producers in the short term that should be held on to in 14 man leagues.
Managing through these rough weeks is certainly how you separate yourself from the rest of the league. Keep grinding, and we'll see what the standings look like next week! Until then, anybody got some extra Androlube I can borrow?
