FAAB Recommendation
Shit guys, we're already heading in to week 7, midpoint of the season being just around the corner. The sixth week of the NFL got off without a hitch even as reports of positive coronavirus tests ran rampant around the league in the days leading up to Sunday's games. But the good news out of all this - The New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and DAN SERRA picked up their first wins of the 2020 season. While the New York Jets remain the only winless team in the league after getting shellacked by the Miami Dolphins. Here's how the games shook out.
Score 1 for the Legion of Skanks. Matt Dietrich came up big with 67 point victory over Trevor Cushard. This one was decided almost as soon as it started. Matt once again credits Derrick Henry for another impressive performance, racking up 264 yards from scrimmage and slamming in 2 touchdowns for a whopping 40 points. Trevor will look to get things back on track going against Gavin Fahey, while Matt looks to his upcoming week against Chris Barker where he will sustain his winning ways against the weasel.
We're starting to make a permanent place in this weekly column for Commissioner Beaumont Pagel, as he defeats a tough opponent in Zach Gratton to grab his third straight win. We credited Derrick Henry earlier in the column for Matt's win, but you also have to bring up the incredible performance we've seen from Ryan Tannehill this season. He passed for four touchdowns in this one, his fourth game with at least two passing touchdowns in five tries.
The CHAMP IS HERE ! Congratulations on your first victory Dan Serra, it's good to get your first win but even more sweeter that it comes from the defeating the 1st place team in the MFFL. Kenyan Drake's game ending 69-yard garbage time touchdown (Nice) paved his way to victory. The lead changed hands a number of times during the Monday Night Football matchup against Chris Barker, and the way things were going lead you to believe Chris would once again pull off a win. But that was quite an ending to a football game that no one saw coming. Newly acquired assets in Claypool and Minshew also put up respectable numbers that helped Dan exceed his projected total. Meanwhile this is back-to-back ass blasts for Chris Barker, losing to two opponents that we know he wrote off as wins earlier in the season. Not to mention his starting Tight End goes down with a high ankle sprain sidelining him for 4 weeks. He'll look to make some roster moves to hope turn things around for his upcoming matchup with Matt Dietrich.
Kevin Holland got himself an impressive 40 point win and handed Ryan Sarros his 5th straight loss in the MFFL. Kevin benefits from having the highest scoring player of the week in Watson, while also seeing tremendous production coming from his Running Back and Tight End positions. Ryan has since made a trade and acquired some new pieces to the team, as well as some draft capital for next season. It's always interesting to see what he is cooking up. But for now Kevin is walking away the victor, and looks to next week with hopes to tackle Reece Pagel's team who has many players on Bye.
Matt Knott is tied for the best record in the MFFL. That isn't a misprint, this shit is real. Who helped him with this come from behind win you might ask? Of course it was Patrick Mahomes and the Waiver Wire Boyz. Even with Aaron Jones putting up his weakest numbers so far this season, Knott got bailed out from a strong Pittsburgh Defense and another fantastic performance from Brandon Cooks - who he actually put in his starting lineup this time! On the other side - Jon Jakusz had his Saints players on Bye, and with that comes yet another 'Meh' performance. But one would think better days are ahead, as Jonathon Taylor's workload seems to increase each week, and a fully healthy Michael Thomas always guarantees fantasy points for your team.
The points explosion this week comes from Gavin Fahey, as he had the webos to start Phillip Rivers at Quarterback this Sunday. Big time moves making big time plays. Pair that with multi-touchdown games from both Aj Brown and Julio Jones - That was enough to get the job done over Jake Warren this week. Jake had 4 positions only deliver 10 total points, and that simply won't get it done in the MFFL. Gavin is in a good spot to keep the good streak rolling against Trevor, however Jake has a much more difficult opponent in Zach that he needs to prepare himself for, perhaps head over to the waiver wire or seek a trade partner to ride out the Miles Sanders injury for the next week or so. We'll see how it all plays out next week.
Another comeback win in the MFFL, this one going to Matt Orzolek as it's another fantasy bonanza of points from the Monday Night games, helping him defeat Tony Vester by 40+ points. Alongside Christian Kirk and Amari Cooper, newly acquired QB Lamar Jackson exceeded projections by rushing over 100 yards in his matchup with Philly putting up 30 points on the board, doubling the score of Matt Stafford. Orzolek also gets a big bump at the Tight End position by trading for Travis Kelce. He's all-in this season. He seems to have all the right pieces to make some noise in the playoffs, he's just got to secure that spot and then anything is possible. He should be able to tally another win as he goes against Dan Serra in his upcoming match.
We got Gavin showing off the Big Beefer this week, there was a lot of cold water dumped on the MFFL this week as many failed to even break 100 - but no shrinkage for Gavin. None whatsoever. Swing that thang Gavin - you did great this week my man.
Injuries, injuries and more injuries. It seems that's all the 2020 Fantasy football season has had for us, and Week 6 was no different with Mark Ingram, Raheem Mostert, Joe Mixon and Miles Sanders all exiting with various injuries — and Zach Ertz, DeVante Parker and Jonnu Smith joining them on the sidelines, too. That means we've got another busy week where the waiver wire targets will revolve around injury replacements. Here's some names that could get claimed tomorrow:
QBs - Some shocking NFL news broke this morning where they announced Ryan Fitzmagic would be sitting down allowing the rookie Tua Tagovailoa to start against the Rams next week. This is my pick of the week, as I think this has the making to be a piece that could help a middle of the pack team punch their ticket to the playoffs. Expect to pay some FAAB to get him, but I think he could be worth the price.
RBs - The Mixon and Sanders injuries will certainly bring up the value of Gio Bernard and Boston Scott. Running backs are not easy to find so here's a couple of rentable backs you can plug in your lineup today for decent output. Also Gio Bernard has the most powerful mustache in the NFL, that has got to be worth a point of two. Maybe ask your commissioners to confirm if that's the case.
WRs - I don't like the available pool of WRs much. I keep talking about how Jeffery is coming back and should be picked up, and maybe this week might actually be the week that happens. Outside of that, maybe Perriman? Maybe John Ross gets traded to a contending team and gets involved? Lot of question marks at this position, none of them I feel confident in recommending.
TEs - Tight End position is barren too. Richard Rodgers is the replacement of Ertz and is likely your best option. I mean somebody HAS to be able to catch the football in Philly right????
Again.... Don't Stream D/ST - leave that to me. OK great. Thanks.
Hope everyone has a great week, good luck with your matchups, and more importantly stay safe. Take care of yourselves you fuckers.
